GBI Technologies Evaluation
In the simplest terms:
Advantages:
- Remediates many contaminates that from BTEX (Aerobic treatment) to Chlorinated Hydrocarbons (Anaerobic).
- May be effective against 1-4 Dioxane a newly identified threat.
- Wide radius of influence.
- Easy to install and implement.
- Sustainable - Can stop it at any time and leaves no residue.
- Rapid remediation process with most sites depending on contaminant.
- Can go deep and is effective against groundwater and soil pollution.
- Can be used as a barrier treatment for both water and soil applications.
- Needs Power and control panel, you don't just dump chemicals on the ground or into wells but you can regulate the treatment to reduce costs.
- Requires regular testing and tuning to achieve the shortest remediation and thereby, lowering costs.
- Can use existing in-situ and/or air sparging infrastructure for application (lower cost
Weaknesses:
- Aquatane or removal SOPs is better for biopiles and close to the surface (3-5 feet) treatments. Not really for concentrated source treatment.
- Needs Power and control panel, you don't just dump chemicals on the ground or into wells, therefore needing power source in remote areas.
